Ambassador (R) Alexandros P.Mallias, Member of the Board of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture
Alexandros P.Mallias, former Greek Ambassador to the United States of America,is a recipient of the Martin Luther King International Legacy Award ( Washington D.C.,Jan.2007). He also received an award from B’nai Birth International for “his commitment to strengthen Jewish –Greek Relations”.
A career diplomat, he served under 11 Governments and 15 Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
His diplomatic assignments include:
-Ambassador of Greece to USA, 2005-2009 .
-Ambassador to Albania,1999-2000,
-first Greek Diplomatic Representative to the Republic of North Macedonia 1995-1999,
-Political Director for Balkan Affairs at the MFA,2000-2005
– Head of the European Union Monitor Mission( ECMM) Office in Sofia ,1994
-First Counselor for Political Affairs at the Greek Mission to the United Nations ,New York,1989-1993
-Main Greek Negotiator of the Paris Charter for a New Europe , Vienna – Paris,1990,
-Delegate at the CSCE Vienna Meeting ,1987-1988
-Charge d’ Affaires a.i. in Libya,1982-1984.
-Greek Delegation to the Council of Europe,1978-1982
Regular columnist with the influential KATHIMERINI, he is also the author of numerous articles, papers and six books including the recently awarded «Τα Σύνορα –Αναθεωρητισμός» (The Borders-Revisionism), Athens 2020, I.SIDERIS Publ.
